Emotional Resilience: Create Order #Week7Day1

Hello Friends!

Wow! This tool is amazing!

Yesterday, right after I finished my blog post, I decided to do something that has been on my mind to do for weeks. All I needed to do was to update a form and resend it by email. Sounds easy, right?

It was easy. However, in my mind there were too many steps. I wanted to get on my husband's computer to work on it because it's easier. So that means I would need to find a time when he wasn't on it that I could actually do it. Then, I needed to pull up an email that had the corrections I needed to make to the form. There were just a lot of small steps that made it feel like it was a huge deal in my mind. Well, it probably took me less than 10 minutes.

All that thinking about and worrying about getting it done...and in reality it only took less than 10 minutes!! It was liberating! It felt so good to have done and not have to worry about it any more. It felt like it actually freed up brain space.

I also went around the upstairs of my home and made a list of what I wanted to get done in each room. This time around I tried to write only the things that I could get done in a week. For instance, one thing that I really want to do is repaint all the main areas in our home. That is not going to happen this week. So I didn't write it on the list.

I have many pages of things to do and I didn't even get to the downstairs rooms. However, there are a lot of small, simple things on the list. Yesterday I spent some time and got a few of them done. It felt so good! I returned something to a friend that we have had for a long time. I took some clothes to the dry cleaners that have been sitting in my room for at least a month. I was also able to get some decluttering done that was on my list. It feels so good.

One thing I should mention. I didn't give a priority number to each item on my list. I'm just going to do whatever I have time to do and what is bugging me the most, or what I can do in the amount of time I have available in the moment.

Remember those piles of papers that I mentioned yesterday? I finally have an idea on what to do with them all. It's going to take some time to do it, but it will be so freeing. I have had this on my mind and it has been weighing heavy on me for a long time. So, even though I would rather get a big chunk of the other things on my list done, this project is what is bugging me the most and will bring the most relief. I'm doing it. Or, at least, starting it today.

Did you make a list? Were you able to start creating order in some part of your home?
